Best Wireless Backup Camera for RV

What’s up guys this is Tampa Tech and if you ever try to install a wired backup camera system in your big SUV your truck or RV but the wires not long enough to reach the back of the vehicle well then the boss cam wireless backup camera system is for you I’m going to show you how to setup and install this system and of course the link will be in video description below if you’re interested in this system this wireless system comes with the complete installation kit everything you need to install into your truck or your car yes even though it is wireless you still have wires to connect into your truck or car but there are simple connections one is for the power which is the red connection and the yellow is for the video and the red and black wires connect to the 12-volt reverse lights and the cigarette lighter port powers the head unit which is the monitor now the wireless transmitter is ip67 water resistant so you can mount it under your truck or do what I did mount it in the trunk has bright LEDs so when backing up at night you can see with no problems and the transmission goes up to 100 meters but real-world situation with all the interference around us expect half that using rubbing alcohol and a cloth you want to clean the grime from the back side of the license plate this is where we’re going to mount the camera they have 3m tape provided very strong water-resistant tape should last a long time we’re going to mount it on the center top side of that license plate if you need to adjust the camera by tilting it up and down you can do so with that mount and then this is the connection adapter you put it in normal mode or mirror mode which acts as a rearview mirror locate the 12-volt line and the ground line which is black and we’re gonna use a 3/4 inch spade bit to run this through the car we’re going to test and see which little wire right here is the taillight well the reverse lights and that’s what we’re them we’re gonna hook up to and the way to do that safely is to turn on the car and accessory mode only don’t crank over the car when you turn on the car turn it to only accessory mode then you want to put the car and then put the emergency brake on and then after you put the emergency brake on then put the car in reverse make sure you’re not on the hill though so go ahead and put the car in reverse all right so now he has the car in reverse all right so the taillight is on there’s the light for the reverse light and look at the colors that’s green and black so we’re gonna connect to a green and black wire and that wire going down here and it leads to right in here so I opened up the wire harness and those are the wires one of them is for the reverse light now using my multimeter I’m getting around eleven point eight volts on that green wire that’s with the reverse light triggered and I’m using this wire splicer provided by the kit I’m gonna put my 12 volt line from the camera to the wire splicer and which is connected to the positive green wire to the car and once you clamp it down it’ll bridge the connection now these plastic splicers aren’t the best you can use solder and soldering iron and twist the wires together to make a better connection then you want to use an insulator like a black electric tape to cover that exposed connection so right here I’m just clamping down it bites into the two wires bridging that connection here it’s snap now I’m going to show you a better connection using a soldering iron and some solder you want to twist the exposed wires together then heat it up with a soldering iron and apply the solder and let the solder soak in and then you want to cover that exposed wire with an insulator like black electric tape and right here I’m mounting the wireless transmitter I’m plugging in the red connection which is the power and the yellow connection is the video I’m relocating the wireless transmitter cleaning the surface relocating closer to the side paneling I get a better transmission wireless transmission here and then it’s closer to where all the wires are so it’s easier to hide all the wires and you want to hide all the wires zip tie everything double check your work alright so we got it plugged into the cigarette lighter port right there you can still utilize that USB to charge your phone so that’s pretty convenient and when we put the car in reverse that reverse light should trigger and how we’re going to the reverse light is going to power the backup camera so that’s how it works and the wireless transmission from the trunk and the transmitter transmits to the head unit which is the monitor and that is the receiver so let’s see if the wireless transmission is good enough from the trunk to the front of the car I’m gonna put it in reverse so the cars in seseri mode it’s not the car is not cranked over you don’t hear the engine it’s just an accessory mode only and my foots on the brake put it in reverse the emergency brake is on and boom automatically triggers so it’ll turn on automatically and when you put the car in reverse so let’s see how fast it responds so it’s in park reverse so it takes a second and boom you’re good and it’s pretty clear and it looks like a wide angle lens actually so I’m going to turn off the lights and see if you can see at night turn off the lights and we’re gonna see how good the night vision is so it looks pretty good at night too as well so all the lights are off and put back in park and turns off put it in reverse and it turns on automatically and night vision it’s pretty good if this video was
